Sacred Heart Saddlery is a one-man (with one woman) saddleshop in Goldendale, Washington near the Oregon border. Tim got his start at saddlemaking in 1995 when he met Dave Jones of Starbuck, WA at a mule show in Fossil, Oregon and wound up staying at his place off an on for about five years learning the trade of saddle and chapmaking. Dave is an excellent leather artist who taught Tim about using the finest tools, materials and techniques to make quality gear.
Tim started working on ranches in 1990 and has been working cows and using cowboy gear ever since. He has tested all of the tack and trappings he's made. If you buy an item off the shelf, it may or may not have already been used by him for a day or two! Our approach is simple: we won't make stuff that doesn't work and last for many years under tough working conditions.
Tim is passionate about traditional buckaroo and working ranch gear, as well as preserving the traditional ranch lifestyle. He has a special interest in the old trappings of the Great Basin and Pacific Slope. You can check out our Chap Gallery to see some examples of his armitas, chinks and woolies in this style. We set up at shows throughout the west, so look for us next time you're south of Ellensburg!
Tim got real lonely around 2003 and searched out Carol. He dragged her here from the midwest and she's been happy here ever since. She's from Minnesota, but she's learning fast! They have four wonderful children, with who knows how many more to come. Below are pictures of our kids, all of whom feel they are qualified to work in any saddleshop and will wield a rawhide mallet or beader like nobody's business!
We'd love to hear from you if you have any comments or questions or would like to stop by sometime. We'll put the coffee on for you!
“The real question today is not when human life begins, but, What is the value of human life? The abortionist who reassembles the arms and legs of a tiny baby to make sure all its parts have been torn from its mother's body can hardly doubt whether it is a human being. The real question for him and for all of us is whether that tiny human life has a God-given right to be protected by the law— the same right we have.”
